BiodivEarth at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi

The IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi offered a valuable opportunity for BiodivEarth to engage with the global conservation community, present our work, and initiate new connections.

Participating in the Congress allowed us to take the pulse of ongoing international conservation efforts while reconnecting in person with colleagues who share a common commitment to biodiversity and resilience. These face-to-face exchanges once again proved energising and inspiring.

Highlights from the Congress

  • Gaining perspectives on the next steps of our initiative during the BiodivEarth breakfast side-event, which brought together long-standing and new colleagues working on the resilience of socio-ecological landscapes and seascapes.
  • Discovering recent progress in conservation effectiveness, socio-ecological approaches, and Indigenous-led conservation initiatives, including sessions at the Green List pavilion and the Home of Indigenous Peoples pavilion.
  • Establishing new connections with site stewards and leaders of conservation initiatives focused on resilient conservation models.

The Congress was a meaningful moment to reflect, learn, and strengthen collaborations within the broader conservation movement.
