On 13 July 2026, our Community of Practice member Yolda Initiative will take part in the webinar The Future of Transhumance and the Conservation of Mediterranean Landscapes, organised by Biom Association in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Rangelands & Pastoralists as part of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026.

The webinar will explore the current state and future of transhumance across Mediterranean landscapes, highlighting the links between traditional pastoralism, biodiversity conservation and the resilience of socio-ecological landscapes. Discussions will also address the policy, economic and social conditions needed to sustain mobile pastoralist practices in the years ahead.

This topic resonates strongly with BiodivEarth’s work on strengthening resilience in socio-ecological landscapes and seascapes. It also reflects one of the core principles of our Community of Practice: recognising and supporting the knowledge, practices and long-term stewardship of the people who care for these landscapes.

We are pleased to see Yolda contributing to this timely discussion and encourage all those interested in pastoralism, biodiversity conservation and the future of Mediterranean landscapes to join the conversation.
