Our mission is to contribute to address the planetary crisis by accelerating existing efforts in conservation, restoration and successful sustainable resource use.
The association aims to preserve biodiversity and functional ecosystems within a context of healthy societies and cultures. Our objectives align with the 2030 targets set by the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
BiodivEarth supports collaboration, learning and evidence-based practice to understand, diagnose and strengthen resilience in landscapes and seascapes for nature and people. This work is carried out through a single collaborative project.
We operate by supporting effective conservation and natural resource use models and the organisations and individuals who promote them, thereby accelerating the delivery of existing conservation efforts and initiatives towards halting then reversing biodiversity loss. We apply an inclusive and holistic approach, building on local experiences and evidence-based research. We make a point to tether global and local dimensions in all of our interventions.
BiodivEarth does not replace existing conservation initiatives. Instead, it works alongside local stewards, research institutions, and conservation organisations to reinforce approaches that have already demonstrated impact, helping them persist, adapt, and scale. Collaboration takes place through partnerships, focus sites, and participation in a Community of Practice.
